He has advised that the launch is going to be next month. He's still unclear. If they're going to be launched together or if the iPad pro 2021 will have its own separate launch. This also makes sense as its predecessor was launched in march 2020. So a refresh one year later isn't out of the question although apple tend to leave 18 months. Between the iPad releases.
The Apple iPad pro will also be getting thicker. Than the predecessor. As we've seen in the past people have had issues with them bending. If they're not looked after properly. So this should help with its structural integrity. But that's not actually the reason. It's getting thicker. It's only increasing in thickness by half a millimeter. But the reason for the increase is actually necessary to accommodate.
The new display technology for the ipad. It is worth mentioning. Though that this leak comes from macotakara. And while they have given us a lot of correct information. They also give a lot of information much of which has turned out to be false. So Now as we know from many credible. Apple leakers the ipad pro is going to feature. The new mini led display. That brings with it many advantages over traditional oleds with mini led.
We get deeper blacks higher brightness levels. And they're more energy efficient than standard oleds. It also has a higher contrast ratio. But I think. That they're less likely to get any burning issues. That can occur on oleds although. It doesn't seem to be much of an issue these days digi times also issued a report. At their phone launch. Then this does seem very likely. We can be pretty certain. However that if it doesn't have millimeter wave. It will at least come with sub 6 gigahertz 5g next up. We've got leaked renders of the 11 inch version of the ipad pro. And this isn't just a concept. But it's actually based on leaked cad drawings. As you can see from the renders. When it comes to the 11 inch ipad pro.
There's not going to be any major design changes. And it's likely to be the same for the 12.9 version 2. Although not mentioned by pigtail in these renders one of the major differences with the 12.9 inch ipad pro is that.
It's apparently going to have thinner bezels around the display. But this cad confirms. That it's going to be an 11 inch display. And according to the information. That the dimensions are going to be 246 by 177 by 6 millimeters. So that's actually the same thickness. As its predecessor. But apple have made it slightly smaller. So we can expect reduced bezels. So this does contradict mac attackers information. We're going to have to wait for further confirmations on the rear.
We can see a similar design to the predecessor. And it appears. That you have got two cameras along with a lidar sensor. And led flash no details on the cameras have been leaked yet. But we expect minor improvements. You can see. That you've got the volume rocker on the right hand side with the lock button on top. You've got a usbc charging port underneath. And it also appears the speaker grille size has been reduced. If we look at the right hand side of the cad render. There's also appears to be a cut out. And this is no doubt for attaching a keyboard to the ipad pro.
And more information regarding. The Apple iPad pro2021. And given that an official announcement is expected to be made next month. It's likely we'll be getting more. We've got the 11 inch ipad pro. It's of course going to be an 11 inch mini led display. We're expecting an increase in resolution. But the exact specs are not known at this time.
Battery
We're still expecting a 28.65 watt hour battery with 18 watt fast charge wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. It's of course going to support 5g and reports are suggesting. It'll be sub 6 gigahertz along with millimeter wave the phone is of course going to ship with iPad OS14.
Face ID
And while some sources are claiming. That it's going to have touch id. And face Id. We expect it to be face id only. When it comes to the pricing. We're expecting the wi-fi only model to start from 800. And the wi-fi plus 5g. To start from around 950 next up. Now this is of course going to be a 12.9 inch mini led display. But it's going to have a higher resolution. Than the 11 inch. But going by their previous releases. It's likely to have the same amount of pixels per inch. We're expecting a single selfie camera embedded into the top bezel.
Camera
And as rumors suggest a 10 megapixel camera on the rear. We get a dual camera setup consisting of a wide camera an ultra wide camera. And the additional lidar sensor it's going to be powered by the a14 bionic. And as I said rumors are saying it could be the a14z we're expecting the same ram in storage.
5G SUPPORT
It will of course support 5g. And again reports are suggesting at both sub-six gigahertz. And millimeter wave. We're expecting the wi-fi only model to start from one thousand dollars. And the wi-fi plus 5g to start from 1150.
So we know a little bit of information about the ipad pro 2021. And it's looking to be another great offering from apple of course with launch expected to be just a couple of months away.
